Description
Bougainvillea 10LT is a vigorous evergreen climber renowned for its spectacular display of colourful papery bracts that bloom for most of the year in warm climates. Available in a range of vibrant colours, it is perfect for covering walls, fences, pergolas, arches, and trellises, while also making a striking feature in large containers. Drought tolerant once established and exceptionally rewarding, Bougainvillea 10LT can grow 3–8m tall with support, depending on the variety and growing conditions.
Care Guide
Type: Evergreen Flowering Climber
Sunlight: Thrives in Full Sun. Plant in a position that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for the best flowering. Too much shade will result in fewer blooms.
Water: Water deeply during establishment. Once established, allow the soil to dry out between waterings, as slightly drier conditions encourage heavier flowering. Avoid overwatering.
Soil: Prefers well-drained soil and performs well even in poorer soils. Avoid heavy, waterlogged soil, which can lead to root problems.
Frost: Light Frost Sensitive. Protect young plants from frost. Established plants may recover from light frost but perform best in frost-free areas.
Maintenance: Prune after each flowering flush to maintain shape and encourage more blooms. Feed with a low-nitrogen, high-potassium fertiliser during spring and summer to promote abundant flowering rather than excessive leafy growth.
