Description
Azalea Standard 20LT is an elegant evergreen standard shrub known for its spectacular display of vibrant trumpet-shaped flowers that cover the rounded canopy in spring. Its elevated form makes it ideal as a feature plant for entrances, patios, formal gardens, and large containers, where it provides outstanding seasonal colour and structure. Growing to approximately 1.5–2m tall, including the standard stem, and 80cm–1.2m wide, this low-maintenance plant thrives in acidic soil and creates a stunning focal point in the garden.
Care Guide
Type: Evergreen Standard Shrub
Sunlight: Semi-Shade. Morning sun with afternoon shade encourages the best flowering while protecting the blooms and foliage from harsh heat.
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during flowering and dry periods. Avoid allowing the soil to dry out completely.
Spacing: Plant 1.2–1.5m apart to allow the canopy to develop fully and maintain good air circulation.
Frost: Frost Hardy. Established plants tolerate light to moderate frosts well, although flower buds and new growth may be damaged by severe frosts. Mulch around the base to help protect the roots during winter.
Maintenance: Remove spent flowers after blooming and lightly prune to maintain the rounded canopy. Remove any shoots that develop below the graft and feed with an acid-loving plant fertiliser in spring.
