Description

Schefflera Gold Capella, also known as the Dwarf Umbrella Tree, is a striking evergreen foliage plant with glossy, umbrella-shaped leaves patterned with deep green and golden-yellow variegation. Its upright, bushy growth makes it an excellent choice for adding structure and colour to indoor spaces. It is relatively adaptable, but bright indirect light is particularly important for this variegated variety, as insufficient light can cause the golden colouring to become less pronounced. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings and avoid keeping the roots wet.

• Type: Foliage Houseplant / Dwarf Umbrella Tree
• Flowers: Rarely flowers indoors. It may produce small, insignificant flowers on mature plants, but it is primarily grown for its attractive variegated foliage.
• Sunlight: Bright, indirect light is best for maintaining the golden-yellow variegation. It can tolerate moderate light, but low light may cause the plant to lose some of its colour and become leggy. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
• Water: Allow the top 2–3cm of soil to dry before watering thoroughly. Always allow excess water to drain away and never leave the pot standing in water. Slightly underwatering is preferable to consistently wet soil.
• Soil: Use a fertile, loose and well-draining potting mix. Good drainage is essential to prevent the roots from remaining wet for too long.
• Temperature: Prefers 18–25°C and stable indoor conditions. Protect from cold draughts, sudden temperature changes and temperatures below approximately 12–15°C.
• Humidity: Average household humidity is suitable, although it will appreciate moderate humidity. Keep away from heaters and air-conditioning vents where possible.
• Maintenance: Prune lightly to maintain a bushy, compact shape and remove yellow or damaged leaves. Rotate the plant regularly so that all sides receive even light and the growth remains balanced.
• Feeding: Feed with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer. Reduce feeding during autumn and winter when growth slows.

Crucial care tip: Give Gold Capella plenty of bright, indirect light to preserve its beautiful golden variegation, but don’t overwater it. Allow the soil to dry slightly before watering again.
