Description
Buxus sempervirens 10LT, commonly known as Common Box, is a classic evergreen shrub valued for its dense, glossy dark green foliage and naturally compact growth habit. Its versatility makes it one of the most popular plants for formal hedges, topiary, borders, knot gardens, and feature containers, providing year-round structure and elegance. Slow-growing and exceptionally easy to shape, Buxus sempervirens 10LT grows to approximately 2–5m tall and 2–3m wide if left unpruned but can be maintained at any desired height.

Type: Evergreen Shrub
Sunlight: Thrives in Full Sun to Semi-Shade. It performs well in a variety of light conditions, although some afternoon shade is beneficial in very hot climates to keep the foliage lush and healthy.
Water: Water regularly during establishment, keeping the soil evenly moist. Once established, water deeply when the top few centimetres of soil become dry. Avoid overwatering or allowing the soil to remain waterlogged.
Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Applying mulch around the base helps retain moisture and promotes healthy root development.
Frost: Frost Hardy. Tolerates light to heavy frost and is well suited to most South African climates.
Maintenance: Trim regularly during the growing season to maintain the desired shape and encourage dense foliage. Feed with a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring for vigorous growth and rich green leaves.
