Description
Aucuba Japonica Crotonifolia 10LT is an evergreen shrub known for its large, glossy green leaves generously speckled with bright golden-yellow variegation. It is ideal for shaded borders, woodland gardens, feature plantings, and containers, where it brings year-round colour and texture to low-light areas. Growing to approximately 1.5–3m tall and 1.5–2.5m wide, this hardy, low-maintenance shrub thrives in shade and provides an excellent architectural feature in the garden.
Care Guide
Type: Evergreen Shrub
Sunlight: Semi-Shade to Full Shade. Avoid prolonged hot afternoon sun, which may scorch the variegated foliage.
Water: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, water deeply during dry periods, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings.
Spacing: Plant 1.5–2m apart to allow each shrub to develop a full, rounded shape.
Frost: Frost Hardy. Established plants tolerate frost well, although severe frosts may mark the leaves. Damaged foliage can be pruned away as fresh growth emerges in spring.
Maintenance: Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and remove any damaged or overcrowded branches.
