Description
Acanthus Mollis 2.5LT is a bold evergreen perennial known for its large, glossy, deeply lobed leaves and impressive spikes of white flowers with purple bracts. It is ideal for shaded borders, woodland gardens, feature plantings, and cottage gardens, where it creates dramatic texture and architectural interest. Growing to approximately 90–120cm tall and 60–90cm wide, this hardy, low-maintenance plant flowers from late spring to mid-summer and attracts bees and other beneficial pollinators.
Care Guide
Type: Evergreen Perennial
Sunlight: Full Sun to Full Shade. It performs best in semi-shade, especially in hotter climates, where the foliage remains lush and healthy.
Water: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, water deeply during prolonged dry periods, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings.
Spacing: Plant 60–90cm apart to give the large foliage room to develop and create a bold display.
Frost: Frost Hardy. Established plants tolerate frost well. The foliage may be damaged by severe frosts, but healthy plants reshoot vigorously from the crown in spring.
Maintenance: Remove spent flower spikes after blooming and trim damaged or untidy foliage as needed. Divide mature clumps every few years to maintain vigour.
